If you’re on the fence regarding getting a brand identity done by a designer versus getting by with a logo from something like Canva, we wanted to share a quick story that we think highlights the value of an intentional brand identity. One of our clients called us to let us know how appreciative they were for the brand we created for them, and shared a story about one of their neighbors. They were eager to open, so decided to grab a quick logo off of Canva. Once they had that, they moved forward with getting their business ready. They paid to get their sign made and hung up, started putting themselves out in the community, only to find out that a fellow business had the same logo design as them, just with a different word. This situation obviously isn’t a preferable one for most businesses, which can be upsetting.
It’s All About Intention
Now, this isn’t to knock Canva at all, as making sure creative tools are more accessible to everyone is important for the growth of the industry, for breaking boundaries. This story is a demonstration on the difference between a brand identity that is intentional versus one that just gets the job done. A visual identity that gets the TLC it deserves to form into a strong design that is completely unique to a business is what sets it apart from a simple logo. Being able to fully develop the voice and values of your brand to incorporate into what will be your introduction to the community is extremely important.
A Long Term Advantage
A meticulously designed brand identity sets you apart from competitors. It showcases your professionalism, builds trust with potential customers, and communicates the quality you bring to the table. It communicates to everyone, before even introducing yourself further, that you’re here for the long run. Your brand is the first impression you make online and in the community, so you want to make sure it’s a good one that communicates the values of your business, as well as a passion for what you do. Investing your time and money into your business’s identity is an investment in your long-term success. By investing in yourself and creating a stand-out brand, you’re setting your business up for a bright future. Make your mark right!
